Hydraulic starters and the associated systems provide a sparkless, reliable method of engine starting over a wide temperature range.Hydraulic starting's major advantage: by cranking engines faster at a higher torque, the engines start more quickly. The instant availability of torque is particularly effective in cold weather. In addition, elimination of electrical connections (coupled with the availability of beryllium copper gears) results in sparkproof starter operation.
